Delivering Strategic Media Intelligence at the Speed of the News Cycle
⸻with UNICEPTA LLM
Problem
Strategic communications teams depend on media intelligence to manage reputation, guide decision-making, and measure campaign performance — but the tools available forced an impossible trade-off. Human-coded analysis delivered the contextual depth and methodological rigor that executive decision-making demands, but was slow, expensive, and limited in scale. Automated solutions could process large volumes quickly, but relied on rigid keyword models and static taxonomies that missed nuance, couldn’t adapt to shifting narratives, and produced outputs too blunt for strategic use. In a media environment that is real-time, multilingual, and multi-format, neither approach was sufficient on its own. Clients needed intelligence that was fast enough to keep pace with breaking narratives, rigorous enough to trust at the board level, and flexible enough to surface emerging topics and risks before they became crises.
Solution
UNICEPTA rebuilt its media intelligence approach from the ground up, developing a GenAI-driven LLM coding pipeline that serves as the new backbone for strategic analysis across its client base. Rather than layering AI onto existing processes, the architecture was designed to combine the analytical depth of human expertise with the speed and scale of large language models — including OpenAI GPT and Google Gemini — within a controlled, transparent framework fully aligned with the AMEC Barcelona Principles. A global data schema ensures consistent, comparable results across markets, media types, and languages. A modular prompt-management system replaces static taxonomies with open-ended analysis, allowing variables to be extracted, extended, and customized in real time as narratives evolve. Continuous quality validation mechanisms keep outputs interpretable and reliable, while seamless integration into client environments — including Microsoft Copilot — ensures insights flow directly into the workflows where decisions get made.
Outcome
The results redefine what media intelligence can deliver. Strategic analysis turnaround times dropped from 24–48 hours to between one and six hours, giving communications teams the velocity to act on intelligence while it’s still relevant. More than half of UNICEPTA’s client base has migrated to the new GenAI-powered solution, with expanded coverage across additional markets, media types, and peer sets that legacy approaches couldn’t reach. Clients now have near-real-time visibility into narratives, sentiment, topics, and key message performance — with the analytical quality required for executive reporting. And because the architecture is modular and future-ready, it scales with clients as their needs evolve, turning media intelligence from a periodic deliverable into a continuously operating strategic asset.
